Under the full moon, a beast of ill omen and shadow roams the wilds. An imperial hunt has selected this beast, known as the Wild Moon Wolf, as its prey. The hunt offers a reward of coin and fame-and for two rivals set to the task, a coveted title.

Long believed dead, Nox Vis is anything but. Once the Heir of the Shadow, the guild of hunters, she now looks over her shoulder, feeling little more than prey.

As the current Heir, Hadrien resigns himself to partnering with Nox at the command of the guild's leader. Together, they will join the imperial hunt and bring down the Wild Moon Wolf.

Whoever returns with the head and the heart of the beast will be the new Heir. But only one of them can win-can live. Should they both survive hunting the beast, one will fall by the other's hand.

Nox swears it will not be her. Hadrien will do whatever it takes to keep the title. The threat of the immortal and vastly deadly Wild Hunt won't stop him.
