It all began one night, sitting in my Los Angeles apartment, when I started having visions of a bookshop by the sea in a small Scottish village...

Jessica Fox is a twenty-six year old, burned out filmmaker with a full time job at NASA, when she types three impulsive words into Google: used bookshop Scotland.

What begins as a reckless daydream becomes a real-life holiday when she arrives in Wigtown, Scotland's National Book Town. There, a bookshop laden village in remote Galloway, among the green hills, the sea, dusty books, castles and a grumpy yet annoyingly charming bookseller, Jessica discovers a life that makes no logical sense - yet feels startlingly like home.

But fantasy collides with reality: long distance love, culture clash and a waxing appointment that should come with a waiver. As her heart is broken open and pieced together again, Jessica has to decide whether the life she wants is the one she imagined...or the one she is building page by page.
