Who's Who in the Fifteenth Century

"Who's Who in the Fifteenth Century" is a vital biographical dictionary documenting the lives and achievements of notable men and women across Egypt, Syria, and the broader Muslim world. Compiled by the renowned scholar Al-Suyuti (1445-1505), this work serves as a primary source for understanding the social, intellectual, and political landscape of the 15th century. It offers a rich collection of profiles detailing the lives of scholars, leaders, and influential figures who shaped the cultural fabric of the late medieval period.

This edition is meticulously based on two historical manuscripts-one held in Cairo and the other in Leiden-providing a comprehensive view of the era's elite. By focusing on the biographical details of individuals within the Mamluk sphere of influence, the text provides indispensable insights into the history of Islamic civilization. This work is an essential reference for historians, researchers of the Middle East, and those interested in the preservation of Islamic heritage through biographical documentation. It remains a testament to the scholarly rigor of Al-Suyuti and the enduring legacy of the individuals who defined his age.
