Where the Beck Flows unfolds within the isolated village of Scadale in the North of England, a place ruled by traditions enforced by the Peculiar Court of Twelve. Meg, newly separated, arrives with hope for belonging, only to be met with suspicion and unreliable offers of friendship and inclusion.

Against this unforgiving landscape, Meg is drawn into a dark and intense love story with Beck, a solitary clockmaker. Their attraction for each other simmers with forbidden tension, shadowed by ancient rules and the ever-watchful eyes of the villagers.

As Meg battles single motherhood, loneliness and longing, it becomes clear that the forces binding Scadale are as relentless as the dry stone walls snaking across the fells. But, it is out on these same fells that Meg finds her strength; building her emotional and physical resilience while slowly falling under the dale's spell.

But, when one of her few allies in the village, Frazer, discovers a mysterious carving in the old barn he is restoring, unsettling stories of dark deeds emerge. Meg's desire to belong collides once more with the dangerous obsessive nature of Scadale and, Beck, a man who faces an inner battle between love and duty.
