What's In a Wiggle?

From new nonfiction children's book author Alberta Daggett comes a fun, vibrant, and educational book about the body language of a dog - and how children can learn nonverbal ways to express their feelings, too.

Dogs may not use human language to speak, but they know how to get their feelings across. If you've been around a happy and healthy pup, you've seen the waddles, the zoomies, the play-bows, and most importantly - the wiggles.

Meet Lola, a once homeless puppy that the author's family rescued. In her new home, Lola demonstrates her love for her family and friends through many different nonverbal cues, like wiggles. 

Throughout the beautifully-illustrated book, Lola teaches readers about her nonverbal communication language, her various wiggles, each of which have deeper meanings behind them. Alberta's educational book with Lola at the center seeks to help others better understand how a dog - or someone without the ability to fully express themselves in words - can illustrate how they are feeling when they can't verbalize it. 

What's in a Wiggle? uses a light-hearted tone and colorful illustrations to jumpstart learning about nonverbal communication methods. Not only does it cover communication, but the youngest readers can enjoy the book's colors, images, and introduction to the responsibilities of dog ownership as well as the love and joy that can be shared between dogs and their people. 

Written specifically for young children, What's in a Wiggle? caters to early readers; children one year old to over six. Nonverbal children and kids with dogs as pets will find the story especially relatable.
