I am immortal": the announcement has the solemnity of a revelation and brings to mind the words of the initiates to the Orphic mysteries engraved in the gold of laminas found in the tombs of Magna Graecia: "Son of the Earth am I and of the firmament, from Heaven I was born. I am divine . The certainty that our spirit comes from above to return to the top unites the enlightened spirits of the whole planet, from the Brahmans of India to the mystics of all times. The Orphic cults that arose in Greece around the sixth century BC opposed to the dark kingdom of Hades (the Invisible, A-ides) - which was the place of death in the Homeric poems - the concept of the immortality of the soul that the followers of the Pythagorean school, in harmony with the Orphic cults, ferried up to Plato.

The idea that part of us, the spirit or the soul, exist and survive the body has been nourished in religions and in turn have been nourished by them. This idea is handed down to us as a mystery or dogma, as a warning or hope. But is it only an idea, that is, an elaboration of human thought, which gave rise to this entity? Or is there something more concrete, such as an experiential path of some individuals who were able to "materialize" the vision of this "I" and perhaps also something else? It is not the author's intention to deal with this subject from a philosophical, scientific or religious point of view. What he wants to do here is simply to witness firsthand his experience of what he has interpreted as his own journey into the afterlife undertaken in spite of himself and for reasons that he cannot explain. An experience so strong and meaningful that in an instant it radically changed his way of reading reality (material and spiritual) and which deeply affected his identity.
