Watcher

Being a Seer is lonely. Gregor is the only person he knows who can speak to his guardian angel. He has grown isolated from other people, wandering the land, contentment always out of reach.  

But everything changes when he finds another Seer.  

Ayola is born into slavery on a Mississippi plantation in 1810, stunning her Guardian with her abilities.

When Gregor chances upon newborn Ayola, the ancient Seer is shocked to discover another of his kind. His long and lonely existence will be utterly transformed by his determination to watch over the little girl. When he stays in the area to mentor her, he not only becomes involved in the project to bring the first steamboat to the Mississippi River, but he finds that the human companionship and love he has been avoiding for so long is inevitable.

Watcher takes place in the universe of the Guardians series, taking Guardians and Seers into the past. In the first Guardians trilogy, we meet a modern young Seer who explores the nature of Guardians with the help of her friends. The Seer Chronicles is a darker tale, containing disturbing themes inherent in a society structured around slavery. In this era, even a Seer is not safe from the horrors that humans can inflict on each other. However, despite the perils of such a time, people will always manage to find love.
