The first time I saw Nowhere was my last. That day that I made it to the skybox, the air was clear. I could see for miles in all directions. I could see the solid steel wall of The Block separating the Slums from the Inner City on one side. And on the other side, I could see Nowhere.

Over the past sixteen years of my life, I've been taught that Nowhere is a vast wasteland where the mutations are born before they slither into the Tunnels. But it's not true.

It was far away. At least dozens of miles out, on the edge of the horizon. But it was there. It was tall, green, and beautiful - a tree.

I say all the time how I'm going to go out there and explore the forbidden world beyond our walls. Of course, my father is completely against the idea. He wants me to have nothing to do with Nowhere, the VSJ, the gangs of the Slums, the Tunnels- he wants me away from everyone and everything. But it's not up to him.

I know what I saw. And I'm going to see it again. All I have to do now is face the CKs and Pickpockets in the country's biggest tournament and win the freedom to explore the unknown Nowhere. I'll be going with Milo, Phoenix, and Tengen to battle mutated critters in the VSJ's Tunnels for the chance to tear down the walls separating us from the inner cities and Nowhere.
