The work of Peter of Silento, a fifteenth-century alchemical writer, was initially transmitted by manuscript, before being printed in the great alchemical compendium of the early 17th-century, the 'Theatrum Chemicum'.
It takes the form of an instruction to his son, and by extension to the wider alchemical community. He is concerned with the Incombustible Sulphur, Azoth, the Permanent Water. His instruction quotes from well-known early alchemical authors, and particularly deals with the making of the Tincture, following the cycle of colours.
