It's 1966 in the Deep South. Georgia Davis and her family have moved from the diverse suburbs of New York to a rural southern town after her father has gotten the promotion of a lifetime. However, when life becomes too much, Georgia finds herself constantly wandering to the safe place of a beautiful weeping willow. One late night an unexpected visitor turns up at the willow - the town's star football player Dawson Dixon, and he's covered in blood and bruises.
Before long, secret meetings commence under the old willow and the two quickly become friends. Their secret meet ups soon spark heated debates about whether or not two people from two completely different backgrounds and skin colors, could become anything more than friends.
It all began under the old weeping willow for Dawson and Georgia, but in a time when doing what's right is frowned upon and following your heart could cost you everything - will it end there for the two of them as well?
