There is just so much to do and see, and the inhabitants are so welcoming and hospitable, the food is amongst some of the best in the whole of Italy and the wine is underrated. Don't avoid Venice, it remains one of the wonders of the world, but find time to visit this magical part of Italy lying less than five kilometres away, across the lagoon.
