THE STATIC ON CHANNEL 0
The Cryovoid Files - Folder 2026 // File 01

By Gareth Croot

"File Opened - Nightmare Unlocked"

Some channels were never meant to be found. Some signals were never meant to be heard.

When seventeen-year-old Toby Marsh picks up a battered, vintage monochrome television for eight pounds at a rainy boot sale, he thinks he's landed a bargain retro restoration project. The set is ancient, obsolete, and missing its dial handle. But beneath Channel 1 lies a worn, forgotten setting: Channel 0.

Analogue broadcasting was switched off years ago, yet when Toby powers the set up, Channel 0 doesn't just play static-it tunes into a crystal-clear feed of his own town.

Then the feed changes.

The camera angle shifts to the rain-slicked garden outside Toby's bedroom window, looking up at him sitting at his desk. And standing in the dark right outside his glass is a tall, impossible shape.

Partnering with his skeptical friend Sam, Toby makes a terrifying discovery: Channel 0 isn't showing a live security feed. It is displaying real-time events exactly five minutes before they happen.

Every attempt to alter the future is already captured on screen. Every move to escape only locks the trap tighter. As the temperature drops, the power cuts, and the entity on the screen begins its relentless march toward his front door, Toby realizes the horrifying truth:

The television isn't predicting his future. It's writing it.
