Cork does not behave like a product.
It behaves like a negotiation.

You do not grow cork quickly. You do not "scale" cork in the way modern language prefers to describe effort. You inherit a timeline. You participate in it. You occasionally influence it. But you do not compress it without consequence.
Because cork is not wood.
It is bark. Protective tissue. A biological strategy evolved to defend against fire, drought, insects, and the general inconvenience of existing in a Mediterranean climate that alternates between generosity and hostility with little warning.

You are harvesting a tree without killing it.
You are removing its armor-carefully, periodically-while asking it to grow it back stronger, thicker, and more uniform next time.
And the tree agrees.
