Apollo, a former slave turned artist, rises to power as the new king after overthrowing the old tyrant. Apollo leaves behind his love and his dead friend in his past to fight in a war he does'nt even believe in. Part of him longs for the simplicity and familiarity of his little life, while another part yearns for something greater and more powerful. Despite his hard-fought freedom, Apollo remains haunted by memories of his past and struggles to come to terms with his newfound wealth and authority.
