Justin Parker returns home to Hamilton, Montana. He has been gone for five years serving in the military in Afghanistan. There Justin was hoping to escaping the guilt he harbored over his past. But in coming home Justin brings with him a severe case of PTSD, as well as, the traumatic memories of why he left Hamilton in the first place.
While in Afghanistan, Justin makes a promise to his combat buddy Chris Taylor, and this is the driving force behind his returning home. But coming home is more difficult than Justin imagined. Now he must face his college friend, Max who betrayed him, and Sierra Rainwater the Native American girlfriend he left behind.
Justin is not totally alone. His Uncle Mike is still there for him as he has always been. Mike along with an unexpected friend try to help Justin regain a normal life.
