There is a duality within Val, one that no one in her life understands: a collision of masculine and feminine tied up in one body. When Val's father arranges a marriage between her and an abhorrent aristocrat, Val runs away to Boston to partake in the most sinful of dalliances with an unlikely companion: a handsome brujo who desires Val not just as the woman she was born as but also as the man he embodies when his spirit makes the switch. Their forbidden affair ensues amidst a sinister plot. Val must end this sham of an engagement lest he lose his freedom, his identity, and the comfort of his newfound lover's warm embrace.
