The Empty Table

Ten years ago, the Holland family walked away from their farm and never came back. The detective who signed the case closed was Ethan Shaw.

Now an old man has been found dead at the Hollands' kitchen table, laid for four, in a farmhouse nobody has lived in for a decade. On the wall, a calendar with every single day crossed out. In his pocket, a photograph of Ethan's own daughter, with two lines written on the back:

SHE LOOKS LIKE HER MOTHER.
ASK HIM WHAT HAPPENED TO THE HOLLANDS.

The dead man spent ten years trying to make the police look. He wrote to the detective in charge nine times. Nobody ever wrote back.

Now Ethan has to reopen the one case he never really looked at, while a killer who has hidden in plain sight for a decade watches every move. Because the Hollands didn't leave to make a fresh start. And one of them may still be out there, living under a name that isn't hers.

Some families leave. Some are made to disappear. And some are still waiting for someone to come and look.

The Empty Table is the third Ethan Shaw crime thriller: a gripping, emotional story of a missing family, a buried secret and a detective forced to face his own worst mistake. Perfect for fans of dark police procedurals, cold cases and psychological suspense.
