The story "The New School" is about a young boy named Timmy who is excited to start his first day of school. However, he soon realizes that school is not going to be easy because he is small and shy. Some of the other children start to make fun of him, and one boy named Greg seems to be the ringleader of the bullying. Timmy confides in his wise grandmother, who advises him to stand up for himself and not let bullies get the best of him. Feeling empowered, Timmy comes up with a plan to use humor to diffuse the situation when Greg tries to bully him. To Timmy's surprise, the plan works, and Greg stops bothering him. Timmy gains confidence and starts to make new friends at school, even helping some of the other children who are being bullied. In the end, Timmy learns an important lesson about standing up to bullies and being true to himself, inspiring others at school to be courageous and kind.
