When calamity hits, life offers two choices - to curl into a ball and cease to exist or to accept the pain as a part of life, take a moment to lick our wounds, and then move on. This is a book of poems predicated on the later, that healing can be found in the journey. In this text lie original pieces dedicated to the concept of taking oneself back from bullies, false friends, and accepting that aging gracefully is to be championed. These pages, most of all, are about the re-forging of the soul after the worst disaster imaginable - the loss of a child. If your shoes have ever tread on these roads, may you find healing here, among friends.
"... awesome presence, powerful delivery..." - Wayne Richard Pope, photographer
"H.M. Kanicki's first, full-length collection of poems takes readers on a dynamic journey from destruction to rebirth..." - Donny Winter, poet
"The first time I heard Heather Kanicki read her poem 'The Voiceless 25,' my heart broke. Not just for the miscarried child, but even more for the mother, and all mothers who suffer in silent loneliness..." - Jared Morningstar, poet
