Tabernacle Maker

In the quiet of the night, when the tabernacle's lamp went out, little Samuel was tucked into his bed. In one of those moments when all you can hear is your heartbeat, Samuel heard Eli calling him.

Samuel thought this was unusual of Eli, but he jumped out of his bed and ran to the old man's chambers anyway. Eli after all was like a father to him. As soon as Samuel reached Eli's room, he asked if Eli called him. Eli seemed surprised; he had already drifted away, sleepy. Samuel was baffled when he heard that Eli didn't call him. "Didn't Eli call me?" He thought to himself, pondering as he was walking back to his room, why would Eli tell him that he didn't call him? As he was getting back into bed, and the night drifted into silence, he heard his name being called again in an awesome soft tone filled with kindness: 'Samuel!'

Samuel jumped again, and leaped to Eli's chambers...

Samuel's calling was to hear and respond to the Lord's voice, leading Israel closer to the Lord. But Samuel needed support from Eli to know that it was the Lord calling him. So many times, the Lord calls us but like Samuel, we don't recognize that it is the Lord calling us. This is what this book is about.
