Every year in our small town, the night before Halloween is unlike any other. It's called... Mischief Night.

The rules of Mischief Night are simple. For kids under the age of 18... there are no rules.

That's right, for one night of the year, in the city of Littleton, there are officially no rules. No laws. Nothing a kid can't get away with.

On Mischief Night, bullies roam the streets in packs, hunting for their next target, knowing they can get away with anything. And if you're unlucky enough to end up in their crosshairs, you'll find out their idea of fun is very different from yours. Believe me.

Of course, I know better by now than dare step foot outside on Mischief Night after dark. Instead, if you're a kid like me, you rush home before sundown, lock every door, huddle with your mom and little sister in one room, and wait anxiously for dawn to let you know you made it.

Sounds easy enough, right?

I thought so, too.

Except this year, as Mischief Night draws closer, I've got a bad feeling in my stomach.
