When a string of children vanish from Saoirse's village, she alone suspects the beast lurking in the Wild Wood near her home, just beyond the summer goddess's temple. Though others discount her theory of the children's fate, Saoirse witnessed the monster of legend and barely escaped its snapping jaws. But when her beloved younger brother disappears as well, Saoirse must confront her greatest fear and return to the Faerie Hill. 

When she arrives, the deadly monster is the least of her worries. A necromancer witch, wielding powers beyond imagination, has stolen her brother's soul, leaving him a hollow shell.

Desperate, Saoirse enters the enchanted gate to ask Áine-the summer goddess-to repair him. But the labyrinthine realm is fraught with monsters, traps, and foes unseen. Just when things can't get any worse, Edred, her closest ally, best friend, and the unspoken desire of her heart, is snatched away by deadly forces.

With her brother's soul hanging by a thread and Edred's life in peril, Saoirse faces an impossible choice: which one to save-if she can stay alive.
