Stronger Together

A young girl named Felice goes to America to find work and help her family back home. She arrives in New York City, scared and alone. At first, it's hard for her to adjust to the new language and culture. But she soon finds friends in her new home in Brooklyn. She misses her family so much and gets sad when she gets letters from them. But one day, she sees something that reminds her of home - the Brooklyn and Haitian flags have the same motto - "In Unity There Is Strength." It reminds her that although she is scared and gets sad sometimes, her friends and family are there for her. Courage doesn't always mean doing it alone because we are stronger together. We live in a nation full of immigrants. But what does that mean to a young child? Maybe they know someone who recently immigrated to the U.S. who is struggling to fit in. Maybe immigration is part of your family's story - or your own. But, for many children, it's about different-sounding names, different-tasting food, or and different-looking clothes.
