What are the different ways to cook spaghetti?
Cooking spaghetti is the ultimate in simplicity. Add the pasta in boiling water, stir till it simmers, then remove from heat and allow it to set for 10 to 15 minutes while it finishes cooking. Some recipes call for salt and others do not.
There is nothing wrong with this method. It's worked for a very long time, and it still does.
Another method utilized in the spaghetti recipes in this book involves using less water. If you cook your pasta this way, you'll have a smaller amount of starchy water leftover instead of a great deal of diluted cooking water. This starchy water is perfect for thickening the sauce you will be serving with spaghetti. It puts some flavor that might otherwise be lost back into your sauce. Some people cook spaghetti in frying pans, too. Baked spaghetti is a special dish.
How can you stop spaghetti from sticking?
Most recipes advise cooking spaghetti in just water and salt, without adding oil. Oil can make it more difficult for the sauce to stick to the spaghetti.
