Laura's husband, Victor, has just died. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's a few years ago and their children forced them to sell their house and move into a retirement home called Shady Meadows so Victor could get the proper care he needed. Now, a week after the funeral, Laura feels like she is stuck in a prison she doesn't want to be in. She's 71 years old but is fully capable of taking care of herself and desperately wants out.
