Socrates has a plan. Unfortunately, so does his wife.
He intends to go to the square, meet someone, and ask a few questions.
But Xanthippe has other plans. She needs him to fetch water.
And so begins a day that doesn't go quite according to plan.
Along the way, Socrates encounters a baker, a young man struggling with his father's expectations, a merchant who insists he hopes for nothing, and people whose ordinary plans keep colliding with those of others.
Meanwhile, an eager organizer keeps announcing a talk by Socrates-whose date, venue, and audience refuse to stay put.
What does it mean to live according to plan?
Whose plan are we following?
Is something unplanned necessarily unfortunate? And can we truly foresee what happens next?
Through lively conversations, gentle humor, and the occasional interruption from everyday life, Socrates, According to Plan explores the curious differences between plans, foresight, hopes, reservations, and promises.
As the conversations unfold, something curious happens: the questions themselves begin to change what people do.
And Socrates discovers that even asking questions doesn't always go according to plan.
The unplanned triggers the unforeseen.
A playful philosophical journey through ancient Athens-and an occasional walk through modern-day Sapporo with an old man and his Hokkaido dog.
No grand answers. No perfect plans.
Just another day, another encounter, and another question.
After all, who planned for Socrates to become Socrates?
