Smart grid system has integrated modern communication infrastructure, optimization of demand, advance metering infrastructure, integration of advanced communication technologies, reliable, automation and sustainable of electricity to the consumers with reasonable price and supply demand management. The communication and information technology are help to provide a reliable, secure and efficient power management from complex network. This article summarized the communication technologies and research challenges such as standards interoperability, cognitive access to data management services and cyber security in smart grid.
