From award winning Children''s author, Jenny Moore (Odelia and the Varmint and Emba Oak and the Terrible Tomorrows - comes an exciting new novel for young adults aged 12-16.Slettbyrd will transport you to snowy climes, to a distant land gripped by fear and prejudice and to a teenage boy who will do everything he can to protect the people he loves. Ninety-nine years of winter. Ninety-nine years since the first white-haired, three-thumbed slettbyrd – the scourge of the Gjördish people – was born. Ninety-nine years since the red-cloaked Slettseeker arrived to destroy every last slettbyrd child… …with Janeck’s baby sister next on the list. To save her, 14-year-old Janeck Potetsky will have to relearn everything he thought he knew about the world. He’ll have to take on the wild, snowy wastelands and the brutal prejudices of a century-long regime. He’ll have to defeat the all-powerful Slettseeker… or die trying.
