Simple Souls

Three twins raised among the majestic Dolomites carry the weight of a promise made to the mother they never knew. But life has pulled them away from that pact, leaving them unsatisfied and adrift.

On their thirty-seventh birthday, they finally find the determination to embark on the journey they had promised themselves. That resolution evolves into a long pilgrimage on the island of Shikoku, in Japan. In this adventure, they are guided by Taíki, a wise Buddhist monk who, decades earlier, had shared a fundamental moment in life with their mother.

While the three siblings face the challenges of the path, their beloved grandfather Gregorio, known as "il Grinza" (The Wrinkle/The Grumpy One), secretly decides to return to his refuge, high up in the mountains. A final, dangerous, and extremely difficult climb to try and reconnect with his true essence.

Anime Semplici (Simple Souls) is a novel about the power of memory, the potency of nature, and the search for happiness. A journey through the depth of the human spirit, which will lead the protagonists to free themselves from the past and the superfluous to embrace a future of hope and rebirth.
