James is a husband that over-worked himself trying to make ends meet. When his wife Priscilla becomes pregnant, he feels like they can't support the baby because he never made enough money to enjoy anything other than work.
Once his wife goes into labor, the doctor had to give her a shot to put her to sleep so he could do an emergency surgery.

Then the doctor made an offer that James could not refuse, sell one of his babies, while the wife was still asleep.
Once Priscilla woke from her anesthesia, James brought her over their baby boy, with no mention of having another baby.
