For centuries, the small town of Castine has lived under the protection of the five families and the ancient agreement that keeps the dangerous forces away. When Caleb starts having visions that the veil is cracking, they begin to uncover long buried secrets as new threats come to the surface. They learn that someone or something is trying to break through the veil and is releasing things out into the town that should never have returned.
Strange occurrences start to happen. There's a surge of feral creatures attacking in the woods, freak storms and unexplained shadows loom. A powerful force is stirring beneath the soil of Castine and the town's supernatural force begins to fracture.
They face an impossible choice...Obey the old laws and leave the town to break, or risk exposing themselves and their kind to the world. In the end, only one thing is certain, the Veil won't hold for long and they need to wok together to fix it.....
