This volume recounts the life of blues singer Sam Myers, who grew up visually handicapped in the American South. With an astonishing drive and passion for music, he was able to win a scholarship to the renowned American Conservatory School of Music, and it was here that he got his first break, playing drums in the Elmore James band in 1952. From this point on, Myers never looked back, fronting numerous bands and recording a number of well-received singles. In 1986, he became the award-winning front-man, vocalist, and harmonica player for Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets. Myers also reveals his thoughts and feelings about the musicians with whom he has played, which reads like a who's who of the blues - Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter, and Robert Lockwood Junior, to name but a few.
