Salvo volume 2 "Of Those Remaining" is the second exciting book in the sci-fi fantasy trilogy by noted author, Duane Hanson. The story picks up just months after the first novel ends. With post-apocalyptic submarine Captain Mike Salvo and his trusty pit-bull, Snappy, headed to South America in search of coffee in hopes of re-establishing some semblance of normalcy to their H5N1 virus-destroyed Portland, Oregon home. While in a secret Colombia research facility, they discover genetically enhanced horrors which threaten to literally devour them. Escaping, they soon run afoul of Cartel Narcos bent upon re-establishing former trade routes in the now plague-ravaged States. Back home, Mike's gal pal and partner, the beautiful May Love (former fifth-ranked National Judo Champ) and teenaged orphan, Imari, are forced to defend their fledgling Trading Post from the drug-crazed forces of Demonic Donnie and Wyrha. He is a hulking, nose less strongman who rules with an iron fist, making krokodil under the orders of his heavily-tattooed living "La Catrina" Gypsy Queen. The gasoline derived injectable is so powerful that it enslaves addicts despite turning their flesh reptilian, eventually robbing them of the ability to walk. Still, they come back begging for more! Aboard his magnificent solar-sleeved sub, The Jim Duncan, Captain Salvo and Snappy head to Plum Island to further unravel the mystery of who killed his beloved wife, Lisa in the ghastliest way! The story takes readers through a deadly run-in with a Narco-controlled Navy frigate at the Panama Canal, eventually returning to The Wilted Rose City for a showdown which will decide the fates of all those remaining!
