Two men. Echoing consequences. The end of caffeine as she knows it.
Look, Corlee meant well. It's just that things got complicated the moment she tried to help. Her trip to England was supposed to be all about books, quaint villages, and lots of concerts and tea with her best friend, Dr. Peregrine Welles (but please call him Reg). The complicated bit starts when she overhears a witness speaking to the authorities. Her American ears catch something the British police completely miss: the man possesses the absolute fakest Boston accent in human history.
Because she wants to help (she always wants to help) she musters the courage to report the impostor Bostonian to Detective Inspector James Alexander. Simple enough, right?
Nope.
James is all curls, charm, and kindness. Even the fact that he always chooses coffee over tea is somehow adorable. The moment they meet, it sure feels like love at first sight (for real). Sounds great, right?
No. This is definitely a complication. Remember, Corlee already has a man in her life: brave, selfless, handsome, and ridiculously cool Reg.
Once James enters the picture, Reg feels the deep, effortless, and amazingly fun friendship he's shared with Corlee for decades threatened. So now, totally out of nowhere, Corlee has a love triangle brewing in her own kitchen. Because of course she does. Never mind that she's also trying to solve a mysterious case that just doesn't add up. Besides that, she's in England to work, not star in a British cozy mystery adventure romance!
So what's an often scatterbrained, sometimes insecure, and eternally brave girl to do? Put on some music, floof her hair, and choose a beverage-knowing full well that her decision carries echoing consequences. Because obviously, her life involves a plot twist.
