The Woman
Veronica Lane is co-owner of a successful oceanfront hotel. Her life could not be any sweeter. But, when the aunt who has been a mother to her dies, she begins to yearn for more. Organized, driven, and headstrong, Veronica is left with doubts about her personal life. She contrives a plan to get artificial insemination. The only problem is she can't seem to find a match. The hotel has a costume charity auction, and Veronica's bid wins her an evening with a man dressed as a cop-her best friend.

The Hero
Kent Latten has loved Veronica since college. Everyone seems to know it but her. As chef and co-owner of their hotel, he's believed she would see him as the man of dreams for years. However, that has never been the case. So, when she propositions him one night with a request to father the child she desires, he sees it as the chance to finally have the woman he desires. Finally, convincing her they should take the altar route to pregnancy. After their wedding, nothing goes as planned. When Veronica believes they have made a mistake and the marriage is over, a gift and a greater challenge than she has ever known enters their life. Struggling with her own inadequacies, Veronica attempts to push Kent away. Until the night she's faced with losing everything-including the hero that has always been by her side.
