Levi Johnson, his Crow wife Dahteste, and the mountain men ride down from the Rockies for the annual Rendezvous. With pelts to trade and changes brewing, Rusty Steel leads the way-hoping to cross paths with old friends. But one is missing: Captain Will Forrester, lost to the wilderness and his own broken memory.

As the group heads for the gathering, so do others-buffalo hunters, drifters, and dangerous men with secrets to hide. Not everyone is there to trade, and not all will make it back alive.

Mayhem on the Oregon Trail

Just as the mountain men regroup, tragedy strikes. Yosemite Bob is murdered by the feuding Squirrel clan, and a deadly pursuit begins. But justice grows complicated when the killers travel with a wagon train full of women and children-and more mountain men fall in the fight.

Meanwhile, Sheriff Joseph Walker is leading a group of missionaries west but loses his scouts on the trail. Desperate, he rides to the Rendezvous for help. He finds Levi, Rusty, and Will-men shaped by the land, the warpath, and the weight of hard choices.
