Relentless Discipleship

What brings joy into your life? And, if you have it, how do you keep it? We are not talking about being happy. Happiness stays with you as long as you are there, in the moment. After a while, the feelings evaporate-and on to the next happening. We're talking about a delight, a gladness, a rejoicing not dependent on external circumstances. So what fills your heart with meaning, a yearning to live in this laborious, sometimes sorrowful world? What keeps you in joy?
What if you discovered someone loves you so much they will give you boundless joys. What if they will also give you lasting peace, feelings of unending acceptance, and forgiveness of all the wrongs you've ever done? Someone who allows God to see you as righteous and blameless. Would you want to love them back? Would you want to be in their presence more often than not? Is it possible?
It is possible. It is because of Jesus Christ. He loved you enough to suffer and die for you, for you to live in joy presently and through eternity. You may now be calling out, "What do I have to do for this?" You have only to believe and trust in Christ's saving work. He has already accomplished this on the cross. If you desire the faith to live for Jesus as Lord and that God has raised Him from the dead, He has already given you all you need to be saved. You will want to confess your sins to Him to thank Him for the limitless forgiveness He offers in Christ. You will know that through your trials and tribulations He will give you peace. You will want to draw near to God. And when you do, He promises to draw near to you. Now that is everlasting joy!
You are ever His disciple. No longer a disciple of the world that offers temporal happiness, having to keep filling up your inner emptiness. No longer having to live for your own self-centeredness, lusts, and worthless gains fueled by exhausting desires. You are freed from the endless battle of the hollow burden of being the focus of your own self-regard.
You are free to always be in communion with God: to live in His presence, in His joy. Relentless Discipleship ...
