During the crisis of Covid, some have found reasons to complain, but to be victorious, I had to do the work in steps. Healing is not done at once but in the process of progress. Self-care has been part of the process. I never knew how bad I needed to love on me.
Poetry is one of the self-care tools I used to release some of my truths. Trauma echoed my existence, one death, one loss after another, but there was light at the end of the tunnel. Light waiting to transform the best of you when you permit yourself to thrive unapologetically. Seriously, I found myself stuck, voiceless, and ashamed, knowing that there was more to me. So in times of isolation, I began to speak life into myself through writing and spoken word.
I titled this piece "Released: Words of Freedom" because I know I would have lost sight of this mission without me using words to create my rhythm. So join me on this journey of resilience, igniting us to step into our authentic selves and reflect light on everyone else.
It's our time to shine... Remember, the journey of healing must be mastered in steps.
