Raïssa, the cry of a child lost in eastern DRC, is the story of a shattered life, but also that of a people who refuse to die.
Born in the peaceful village of Lwemba, Raïssa grew up in the innocence of a simple childhood, punctuated by church hymns and the laughter of the market. But the day military boots trod the red earth of her village, everything changed. Flames devoured the houses, screams replaced songs, and Raïssa's childhood was transformed into exile. Through forests, refugee camps, and devastated villages, Raïssa became a witness to a tragedy the world refused to acknowledge. She lost her father, her brother Cédric, and so many others, but never the flame that burned in her heart: love and faith.
By her side, luminous figures accompanied her-Thérèse, her mother with indomitable courage; Mother Agnès, the voice of faith; Amina, the faithful friend; Magali, the foreign journalist who carries the memory of the Congolese people.
Each step of their escape becomes a page of history, each tear a prayer. Raïssa learns to write so as not to forget. Her notebooks become silent witnesses to war, loss, and resilience.
Having grown into a woman, then a mother, then a grandmother, Raïssa makes her experience a mission: to teach that hatred has never healed the world's wounds.
She teaches her children, Romain and Thérèse, to sow peace where blood has been shed.
And when her last breath fades, an entire people inherits her message.
