Because the house Charlie is renting belongs to none other than Noah Cross, Charlie's favorite mystery author. And as luck would have it, Noah's team has a strange offer for Charlie. In a scheme to revive Noah's book sales, they will pay her to "plagiarize" one of his old books. And all with Noah's approval.

Ordinarily, Charlie would say no. But thanks to her admiration for Noah (and maybe her thing for his tattoos), she says yes. After all, how could she pass up the opportunity to meet her favorite author?

The scheme works. Charlie's plagiarized novel becomes the only thing BookTok creators can talk about. Even better, as Charlie gets to know her tattooed protective hero, she gets swept up in a steamy romance that her own characters could only dream of. But this publishing industry romance turns sour, and even dangerous, as the backlash against Charlie grows.

Now, Charlie's not sure if her bookish beach love story can survive the online scandal.
