Imaging structures underneath basalt layers has been achallenge for the hydrocarbon exploration industry. A newprocessing strategy has been implemented to enhance seismic imagesobtained from wide-angle seismic data, acquired for sub-basaltimaging purposes. A zigzag velocity function consisting ofiso-moveout curves in the time-velocity panel is introduced andemployed to perform a constant moveout correction, leading to ahorizon consistent multi-window non-stretch stack. The argument isextended into the tau-p domain where the transformed wavefieldrequires an alternative set of processing techniques. Furtherimprovements are achieved by data processing in the tau-p domain,including downward continuation and shifted-elliptical non-stretchdynamic correction. The processing strategy employed facilitatedexploitation of wide-angle arrivals in order to provide enhancedimages of the sub-basalt structure.
