For the first time, in her memoir, Dr. Guillaume opens up in detail about her childhood trauma along with its effects on her life's journey, and how her faith in Jesus gave her the courage and stamina necessary to follow her dream of becoming a Medical Doctor.
She is also keenly aware, like most, of the perpetual war against youth and young adults worldwide. Brilliant, bold, beautiful youth are facing emotional, physical, and sexual abuse, peer pressure, increasing gun violence, and the abortion of their dreams because of harsh upbringings and toxic environments.

Dr. Guillaume too experienced many of the peer pressures and distractions that many youths and adults face today. She encountered many missteps, failures, and rejections in life, which could have caused her to give up on life or remain stuck in the toxic environment in which she was raised. However, at a young age, Dr. Guillaume had faith and discovered that she was deeply loved by Jesus.

This journey through life with faith, tenacity, finding the right community, and hope helped to fuel a girl who was raised in a high-crime neighborhood to fulfill her dream of becoming a Medical Doctor. She chose 'Prescriptions & Prayers'-this book is written for young men and women like Dr. Guillaume along with the families who are raising them who are gifted, hopeful, with audacious dreams, but their environment does not match their vision. Instead of giving up on the pursuit of these dreams, Dr. Guillaume models in this book that all things are truly possible if you believe and no matter your mistakes or failures, to never give up on your dreams.
