Widely hailed as the most influential of the early eighteenth century poets, Alexander Pope was an invalid from his infancy, and directed his energy towards literary efforts, writing poetry that illustrated his masterful ability and prolific insight into the human condition. Alexander Pope (1688 - 1744) was an eighteenth century English poet, best known for his satirical verse and translation of Homer.
