The book provides a theoretical framework of computational design thinking as a new kind of structuralism grounding on the one hand in Norbert Wiener's studies on cybernetics and the work of Ludwig von Bertalanffy on general system theory on the other hand in Edmund Husserl's concept of Lebenswelt and his phenomenological studies. This framework is used to sketch out a sustainable design thinking across scales that overcomes the traditional dichotomy urban and nature and views architecture as integral part of landscape. The design approach is illustrated by a number of design experiments conducted within a studio setting and complemented by a series of conversations with leading experts on Network City, Geodesign and Topology.
