Gabriel Patera is a man knocking at death's door. His final wish is to tell his story before it dies with him. After the death of his father when he was a child, he and his mother left California to live in Denver, Colorado. Gabriel tells his story growing up in the 70's suburbs of the West Side of Denver with his childhood pals Ed's, Alley Boy, D.J., and Sabrina.
He soon discovers he has a knack for making money and, with his crew of friends, begins his journey into the life of illegal business. Eventually, his Uncle Johnny, a wise guy from L.A., comes to visit and recognizes his nephew's business sense and similarities to Gabriel's deceased father. Johnny reveals to Gabriel his family's history, its ties to the Gambino crime family, what really happened to his father, and why Gabriel and his mother had to flee California.
From there, Gabriel dives head first into a world of fast money, fast women, and a life involving drug running, violent turf wars, and the deadly and powerful Mexican cartel, the Arellano Felix Organization.
