Parenting Tween

Not surprisingly, the tween and teen years are notorious. It may be a difficult time for you and your young adult to be together, and your relationship may be put through its paces. Between the ages of 8 and 12, tweens are beginning to experience puberty, social pressure, and increased responsibility. Teens are dealing with the same issues and increasingly identifying outside of the family. Even though it can be difficult for all parties involved, maneuvering through these new obstacles is an essential step toward adulthood, and it all forms part of your child's individualization process. It may not be easier to accept that these developmental hiccups are normal, but there are some common parenting blunders that only serve to exacerbate the situation. You and your tween or teen have a better chance of surviving these years unharmed if you are aware of these dangers.
