Alan Foster, his sister Abigail, and their two best friends, Mei and Tadashi Koi, were on a normal high school field trip to a nearby forested park known as Red Pine Park. When an old friend from their past leads them away from the other students and into unseen danger, the four teens find themselves transported to another world, one that seems pulled straight from the pages of a book that Alan and Abigail's mother once wrote for them in their youth.

As they travel this beautiful and mysterious land in search of a way home, they will uncover hidden truths about themselves and their families while facing dangers at every turn. Their journey brings them into conflict with an enigmatic figure known as the Shadow-Lord, who claims to be a friend, as well as dangerous lizardmen, malevolent magical entities, and a wilderness filled with frightening fauna and semi-sentient flora.

In their dire search for the path that will lead home, the teens are drawn into an ancient struggle between good and evil and must undertake a perilous quest to locate two sacred orbs, artifacts of great magical power that could decide the fate of the world itself. But nothing in Whenua is as simple as it seems. As loyalties are tested and secrets are revealed, the lines between good and evil, friend and foe, blur as the journey begins in this first installment of the Orbquest trilogy.
