North Cork Through Time is about one of the most scenic regions in County Cork. The enigmatic Blackwater valley defines its southern boundaries. To the North are the Nagle and Galtee Mountains. Inbetween are quaint and historically saturated towns and villages, some are old garrison towns and some are market towns that were photographed one hundred years ago for their cultural character and message. Many of the old postcards have never been brought together in one place before. Each of the towns and landmarks featured have their own unique history, and all connect and add in someway to the greatness of the region. This book tracks the space of 100 postcards in North Cork, many of which were taken c.1900-c.1920 and some of their historical contexts. Some sites have been written extensively on over the centuries and other are awaiting proper exploration and critique.
