Raf and Will are caring men. They care about others - they're concerned about humanity in general. But they show this in different ways. In a future that resembles our present, people are free to consume whatever information they desire via smartphones - the difference is there's no need for government. The constant consumption of information has rendered everyone passive, and the status quo has become a citizenry content to live among one another peacefully and perpetually preoccupied. Raf is concerned that people have lost their souls; Will is concerned that people have become impolite. Raf decides he will isolate and content himself with a flask of alcohol and his own memories; Will decides he will create and spread a virus that renders people all but zombies, so he can commandeer all social media and post instructions on how to be civil to one another. In his isolation, Raf - immune to Will's virus - begins to abandon corporeal reality and inhabit the world in his mind. He talks to a spider that reveals to him the secrets of the universe and thereby encourages Raf to use this wisdom. Raf decides he will post his personal history as a Creation Myth on social media - it is the only other thing viewed by the infected populace besides Will's pedantic videos of himself. Raf's numinous and mystical tale effectively counteracts Will's virus and restores an innate creativity to people. The collision of these worlds sets humanity on a trajectory that repeats history...until a young girl decides to question the status quo. When Eva discovers the power of music, she becomes frustrated with daily life made safe through subscription to community values. The power she gains from her personal experiences equips her to embark on a journey that culminates in a decision she must make for humanity: promote immortality or harmony and death.
