"This book reimagines the story of the Water Margin heroes, focusing on their recruitment by the imperial court and subsequent fate. By a twist of fate, the Liangshan outlaws accept the amnesty offered by Zhang Shuye and devote themselves to serving the nation. They plunge into the struggle against treacherous court officials and invading Jin forces. Amid devastating conflicts and wars, the heroes meet their ends one by one. The narrative concludes after the Jingkang Incident, with most Liangshan heroes meeting tragic fates. Yet unlike in the original Water Margin, their deaths here carry a profound sense of heroic righteousness.
